If you have any doubts why Premier League is the  best league in the world, then all those doubts would have been gone if you have checked out this match. The match had all the ingredients of a classic and till the final whistle, you couldn’t tell which team will win the match.

Liverpool knew they needed to win the match to put pressure on Manchester United as the title race gets nearer to the end. They were without Steven Gerrard but they still started strongly against an Arsenal side who had some young players. Arsenal were missing Adebayor and Van Persie and had the young Lukas Fabianski in the goal. It soon became evident that they were in for a busy evening as Liverpool started attacking from the beginning with Torres terrorizing the defence with his skill. Liverpool tested Fabianski on various occasions but they young keeper looked fired up for the occasion. They way they were playing, it looked a matter of time before Liverpool will score but it was Arsenal who took the breakthrough on 36th minute. Liverpool beat Manchester United 4 – 1 to keep there title hopes alive

As a Manchester United fan, i am completely distraught by the result and more so by the margin. It was a must win game for Liverpool and to be honest, the played very well and Torres was absolutely top class today. Gerrard and Torres, who have been vital for Liverpool were on top form while for Manchester United, there top defender Vidic has a poor game. I thought it might turn out to be a poor afternoon for Liverpool as Manchester United opened the scoring with Ronaldo converting the penalty after Reina has fouled Park in the box. But instead of holding onto that lead, United allowed Liverpool to come into the game after that costly mistake from Vidic and United never looked comfortable afterwards. read more »

The game between Manchester United and Liverpool tomorrow is being dubbed by many as the Premier League decider. Manchester United are on the top of the table right now with a 7 point lead over Liverpool with a game in hand. If United win the game, they will go 10 points clear of Liverpool and then things might be over for Liverpool. Both teams have been pretty confident lately after there Champions League triumph with Liverpool thrashing Real Madrid and Manchester United getting past Inter Milan. Liverpool Sign Keane : Any more to come ?

So Liverpool have finally managed to sign one of the most proven goal scorer in the premiership. Even though he may have cost around $20m, he will be worth every penny. Now it will be interesting to see if he and Torres can form a good partnership, and I am confident they can. This is the the Liverpool’s biggest signing of the season so far and Rafa will need to sign a few more players of his stature if he wants Liverpool to challenge for the premiership.

Third time lucky for Chelsea?

Chelsea may finally accomplish what Jose Mourinho failed to do during his time at Chelsea. They have lost to Liverpool twice in the champions league semifinal, thanks to a Luis Garcia’s controversial goal and the defeat on penalties. On both the ties, the luck seemed to have favored Liverpool and that may change this time as Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield thanks to Riise’s own goal at injury time.

In a match that was dominated by Liverpool, they looked set for a win when the much maligned Dirk Kuyt’s finish three minutes before the interval gave them the lead. Liverpool had some good chances but Peter Cech was there to save well from Gerrard and Torres. But the tie suddenly turned to Chelsea’s side as Riise scored an own goal from Kalou’s free kick five minutes into injury time.

Chelsea have been unable to get past Liverpool twice in the same stage but it seems Avram Grant may finally accomplish what Mourinho failed to do. The return leg is at Stamford Bridge where Liverpool have failed to score at 8 outings and Chelsea are also unbeaten there. But this time, Liverpool know that they have to score and things look set for a pulsating tie .
