Tottenham beat Chelsea 2- 1 in extra time to win the League Cup, there first silverware since 1999. They have won the league cup four times now and the record of manager Juande Ramos having not lost in a cup final continues. He is sure to become a fan favorite now for winning a silverware in his first season I charge of the club. Tottenham have definitely improved under him and they showed it on the pitch.

They showed great character to come from behind and win the game in extra time against a full strength Chelsea side. There was a lot of talk about Lampard and Terry not starting but they both started in the Chelsea team. Spurs could have gone two up quickly but Chimbonda headed against the bar from a corner and then Berbatov headed wide from Keane’s cross. Chelsea won a free kick when Zokora fouled Drogba and the ivory coast hitman curled the free kick in the bottom left corner of the goal with Paul Robinson completely rooted to the wrong position. Chelsea defended well with there one goal lead but Spurs got there breakthrough in the middle of the second half when they won a penalty because of a hand ball by Bridge. Berbatov calmly converted the penalty and after that Spurs became the dominating force. Zokora had a great chance to give Spurs the lead when he raced through only to see his shot hit Cech on the head and he hit the rebound wide.

Spurs were quite confident before the game that they would be able to beat Arsenal this time and they did that emphatic style. Even I was expecting Spurs to reach the final but I didn’t expect them to beat by Arsenal by 5- 1. Even though Arsenal had a few youngsters in there side, they also had a few experienced players with them and they should have done more. There was also some on field spat between Arsenal Adebayor and Nicolas Bendtner which are being talked about in every newspaper recently. Football is a game of passion and things could boil over if you are losing 5-1 from a team that hasn’t beaten you in 9 years. Credit must be given to spurs who played really well and have reached there first final in six years. They will now face Chelsea in the final at Wembley.

The other semifinal between Chelsea and Everton was a tight game with Joe Cole scoring a great goal to seal a 1 - 0 win for Chelsea ( 3 - 1 aggregate). Everton have played well in the first leg and were extremely unlucky to have lost the game 2 - 1 at Stamford Bridge. They started off in a similar fashion, dominating possession and making chances but the Chelsea defense along with Peter Cech proved too much for them to break down. At the other end, Chelsea’s Joe Cole scored a beautiful game to wrap things up for Chelsea. The final between Chelsea and Tottenham will sure be an exciting game with Chelsea being the clear favorites to win. But Spurs shouldn’t be underestimated and having reached there first final after a long time, they should be motivated enough. And with Berbatov and Keane as strikers, you can’t rule them out. As for me , i will be rooting for a spurs win.
