Barcelona and Chelsea Play a stalemate

After watching two amazing games during the previous Tuesday Night’s which finished at 4 – 4, i was also having some high expectation from this game. It was a bit of a shock to see this game finish without any goals. With the quality of players Barcelona have, i was expecting them to at least score a goal. Even Lionel Messi didn’t look like a similar player he is.

But credit must be given to Chelsea defence and especially Peter Cech. Barcelona had some good possession throughout the match but they found it hard to break the Chelsea defence. They had a couple of decent chances but Cech was alert every time. Dani Alves was a constant threat from the right. Barcelona might feel they could have got a goal had Bojan not missed a very easy chance. For Chelsea it was a draw well deserved though Drogba may have opened the score sheet if he had capitalized on the mistake. It is too early to say who will win. It is all the pay for in Stamford Bridge. But the confidence is with Chelsea now after there good defensive performance and they are always a solid unit at home. And they also were the first team this season to prevent Barcelona from scoring at home.

I feel the second leg will be very crucial. It will be all about who scores the first goal.

Chelsea And Barcelona to meet in the Semi Final of the Champions League

I had a feeling that the game between Chelsea and Liverpool will be a close one but i certainly didn’t expect it to end 4 – 4. It is a bit hard to see Chelsea and Liverpool concede 4 goals in a single match. Although most of the goals were because of errors, it did provide very much entertainment. Liverpool were without Steven Gerrard but they almost took the game to Chelsea when they scored those two quick first half goals and took a lead of 2 – 0 at half time.

It took an angry Hiddink to motivate Chelsea at half time and they responded after that by scoring the first goal thanks to a mistake by Pepe Reina and then Alex scored a thunderous free kick that could have been the best goal of the match to level the game 2 – 2. It looked the game might finish that way but there was some excitement left for the end too. Chelsea took the lead after a Frank Lampard strike but Liverpool responded quickly through a deflected Lucas goal and a headed goal by Dirk Kuyt. Liverpool were leading 4 – 3 with seven minutes remaining and needed one more goal to win the tie but Chelsea killed off the game after a Lampard strike. read more »

Man Utd defeat Barcelona to reach Champions League Final

What a night for United and especially for Paul Scholes. Scoring only his 2nd goal of the campaign but what a goal it has turned out to be. I might have criticized Paul Scholes for the awkward challenge on Messi at the edge of the box in the first minute. Luckily, the referee judged it correctly and didn’t give a penalty. He made up for this with a devastating curling shot from 25 yards thanks to a little bit of help from Zambrotta. United were without Vidic and Rooney but they settled well in the opening minutes. We could have been 2-0 up had Park been a bit more clinical with the strike. Barcelona enjoyed superior possession and there danger man was Messi. Everytime he had the ball, i was nervous. Even though Barcelona had a lot of possession, they were reduced to shots from outside the area with the only danger being of Messi who had a decent shot saved by Van Der Sar. Nani was guilty of missing a great chance when he headed wide from 8 yards after a great cross by Park.

Ronaldinho To Milan ?

It looks like Ronaldinho may be on his way to AC Milan in the summer. According to his brother and agent Roberto de Assis, Ronaldinho has already agreed terms with Milan and now a deal concerning the transfer fees needs to be reached with Barcelona. Earlier, there was also a reported interest from Manchester City but seriously didn’t see that going through. He is set to earn around £6.5million per year at Milan according to Italian Media.

Ronaldinho has had a difficult season at Barcelona due to injuries and lack of form. He is currently out for the season because of a muscle injury. And with young players such as Messi, Bojan, Dos Santos playing so well, the time may well come for him to leave a seek a new challenge. AC Milan also seems to be an ideal club for the twice World Player of the year. They are struggling to create goals, with Ronaldo being injured and Gilardino in lackluster form and Kaka not playing at his best. They are also fifth in the Serie A and in danger of missing out on the Champions League. The arrival of Ronaldinho may just give them the attacking edge they seem to be missing. And the prospect of having Kaka and Ronaldinho in the same team is too tempting. Milan manager is also eager to bring Chelsea’s misfiring striker Andrei Shevchenko back at the San Siro. Shevchenko has been unable to produce the same form for Chelsea as he did for Milan and so it will be better for him to return to his former club where he is considered a legend.

Currently, only an agreement has been reached and only the transfer fees has to be agreed now. Lets see how this turns out to be
